    Description

    This listing is for a
    rare alternate issue
    of the
    1970 NBA Championship Finals program
    for
    Game 6
    of the series between the
    New York Knicks
    and the
    Los Angeles Lakers
, played at the Fabulous Forum in Inglewood, California, on May 6th, 1970.
In this game, the Lakers defeated the Knicks, 135-113, behind a 45-point and 27-rebound performance by Wilt Chamberlain and 33 points by Jerry West. The Knicks were weakened by the absence of Willis Reed, who injured his thigh in Game 5 in New York. This Lakers' win forced Game 7 in New York two days later, commonly referred to as the "Willis Reed game".
This program measures 8-1/2" wide by 11" tall and are in
    very good to excellent condition
, with a 2" hairline crease at the top right corner of the cover.  The score sheets are
    unmarked
    .
For the postseason, the Lakers used two images from their regular season programs, one with an action shot of Jerry West vs the Bullets and the other a close-up of West on the bench. For the first two series, "NBA Playoff Special Edition" was added to the cover. For the Championship series, they added
"1970 World Championship" to the cover. With this game being the last one played at the Forum that season, the Lakers chose to utilize some of the unused covers
    without
the "1970 World Championship" circle and placing the game specific insert and roster pages, separately stapled, loose inside the program where they would have normally been included.
This is one of those programs.
