JDS 2003 Mickey & Minnie on Koi Nobori (Carp Streamer) with Roof Top & Flag Pole Pin Set
This pin set includes a pin of Mickey & Minnie riding on a Carp Streamer, a plain Carp Streamer pin that goes underneath the top streamer, and a pin of Pluto that fits on the plastic roof top. The custom, in Japan, of displaying carp pennants on Boys' Day has been replaced with Childrens' Day. Traditionally the number of carp represented how many male children were in the family. The Japanese carp represented those manly physical qualities that we usually associate with salmon here in America. Salmon are not native to Japan. Otherwise maybe the Japanese would be flying salmon on Childrens' Day.
This is a real 3-D pin -- more of a Children's Day display pin than one that is worn -- but the pins can be worn!
