1976 GMC Vintage Astro Car Hauler/RV Detroit Diesel, Serviced and Ready to Haul
Stock #:
39
Exterior Color:
white/green
Fuel Type:
Diesel
Mileage:
231,025
I am pleased to offer this very cool 1976 GMC Astro Car Hauler/RV. Truck has a clear Virginia Title and is registered as an motorhome. VIN # is TDJ926V598223 and mileage is 231,025 +/- and shows 2087 hours.
Owner purchased this truck from the original builder who hauled an NHRA drag car for years prior to his acquisition. The previous owner stretched the frame and installed the all-aluminum body. Cab is also aluminum. Body and cab are in excellent shape. Includes 9000 pound winch mounted in the floor of the rear body for loading vehicles. Frame is in excellent condition. The truck is not rusty and has been garaged most of it's life. In fact, it has spent most of it's life in a climate controlled garage (covered). This is the reason that the body and frame are so solid.
Drivetrain is a Detroit Diesel 6V-71 with a 13 speed road-ranger transmission. Recent service by local Detroit dealer includes all fluids / filters / belts changed in April 2021. New front wheel seals and brakes were also installed. Truck has new rubber all the way around.
The interior cab on this truck is in amazing original condition. The diamond pattern headliner is fully intact with no buttons missing. Dash and gauges are in great shape. New driver side windshield just replaced. The truck is extremely comfortable to drive. The rear body has beautiful oak floors with a beavertail in the back. The body contains a garage area and a living area. The truck is wired to connect to a portable or onboard generator with interior lighting and wall outlets. There currently is no onboard generator on the truck.
The truck contains a full bathroom with shower, sink, and toilet. Water pump is present and is functional. Water heater is present but not functional. Gray water tank is in place on the truck however needs to be reconnected. 5k pound aluminum spring assisted ramp in rear for easy loading and unloading of vehicles. Two saddle fuel tanks on the truck however the previous owner used one of the tanks to haul methanol for his race car, so there is only one saddle diesel tank (120 gallons).
The truck runs and drives great. It is an absolute blast to drive and sounds amazing. The truck has a recent (within the last 2 months) k paint job. It can be driven anywhere right now and provides a great hauling / shop / camping experience at the racetrack. The infrastructure is there to take the box to the next level depending on what you are looking for. The truck gets more attention at the race track than the cool race cars that are hauled in it.
Dimensions:
Overall Height: 11' 10"
